That made your college stories the envy of everyone you ever met. You made friendships that outlasted college. Some even helped your career. What would life have been like had that not been possible?
It did happen because someone built a KA house for you. We can’t pay them back but we can pay it forward. That day has arrived.
No other chapter in the Order has had to weather this - Katrina in 2005, fire in 2007 and now the Coronavirus.
The alumni rebuilt the house from a total loss after the 2007 fire. The mortgage it left behind was a burden that is now unsustainable.
COVID has purged the house of most of its rental income. The debt has to be retired for the chapter to survive. The actives can’t pay it.
This debt is not their job. It’s our job to do for them what was done for us. How can we do less for these young men today than was done for us?
Some of you did not go to Tulane but you are enjoying the alumni network that exists in New Orleans because there is a local KA chapter in the city.
This is straight-up charity. Our current cancel culture will not praise you. Our government will not give you a tax deduction for your donation.
Please don’t turn your back on these young men.
Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more. You should never wish to do less.
