Joseph M. Krmpotich had a dream for Duluth.

Upon his April 29, 2011 death, Joe Krmpotich left a donation of almost $500,000 to the Duluth Rowing Club toward construction of his dream — a new boathouse for Duluth.

Joe joined the Duluth Rowing Club in 1967. Rowing was a family affair for the Krmpotiches, with three brothers and two sisters all taking part. A graduate of Duluth Cathedral and UMD, Joe loved rowing. As failing health made it difficult to row, Joe often expressed a desire to give back to the the Club by someday funding a new boathouse. His substantial cash gift has turned the Duluth Rowing Center plans into reality.

This large donation was the seed money for the Campaign for the Duluth Rowing Club, funding almost half the cost of this project.
